The Department of State Services (DSS) has dismissed 115 officers for various acts of indiscipline and misconduct, in what the agency described as part of its ongoing internal reform and cleanup exercise.
The Service, in a statement released on Tuesday via its official website, said the move was aimed at strengthening professionalism, promoting accountability, and protecting the public from impostors who parade themselves as DSS operatives.
“As part of the ongoing reforms in the Department of State Services (DSS), the public is hereby informed that a total of 115 personnel have been dismissed over a period,” the statement read.
The DSS noted that some of the affected individuals have continued to impersonate the agency’s officers, forcing it to make their names public to prevent unsuspecting Nigerians from falling victim to fraud or deception.
“In addition to earlier disclaimers on the duo of Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, the Service finds it necessary to warn citizens of the fraudulent activities of some of these persons still posing as DSS personnel,” it added.
The agency advised Nigerians, government institutions, private organizations, and community leaders to verify the identity of anyone claiming to represent the Service before engaging them in any official matter.
“Members of the public are therefore advised to desist from any official dealing with these individuals who have been dismissed by the Service,” the DSS warned.
The agency said the full list of the dismissed officers has been made available on its official website for public access and verification.
It further reaffirmed its commitment to discipline and professionalism, urging Nigerians to report any suspicious persons claiming to be DSS operatives through its established communication channels.
